Humans indulge in activities that alter both the content and the experience of their own consciousness. Drugs are a means for achieving a number of particular, often recreational, changes in conscious experience. However, drugs are also a large contributor to, and facilitator of, human suffering and health problems. The best health advice anyone can give to most people most of the time regarding recreational drug use is this: “Do not use drugs”. Many people however, including me, do not find this advice particularly attractive, or even sensible. Assuming that a person wants to enjoy the mind-altering effects of psychoactive substances, two questions follows: which drugs are dangerous to use? And, more importantly - how can one know which drugs are more dangerous than others? The answer to both questions, of course, can be found through the illuminating lens of the scientific method.

So the whole reason we need more prisons built is to house non-violent drug offenders?
LTMC: And 80-90% of those so-called drug offenders are Black, despite the fact that all racial groups commit crime at remarkably similar rates, and some studies suggest that Blacks actually use drugs less frequently than whites.
You know why white people use more? Because they know they’ll probably get away with it. No joke, I’ve heard plenty of white people I know who smoke, and then think they can get away with it because they’re white. Usually they do too.
Racist system is racist.
ILLEGALITY DOESN’T DEFINE PRACTICE.
This is a lesson which needs to be learned. People will still do drugs if they are illegal. Abortions will still be done if they are illegal. You can’t illegalize stuff like that, and it’s wasteful and detrimental to do so.
Legalize drugs, regulate them, tax them, distribute clean needles. End drug wars. End the spread of disease. End black markets. End killing, suffering, and wasted money.
The anti-drugs laws do not work. Anybody, even as young as elementary or middle school students, has relatively easy access to a wide variety of drugs. If it’s not working, fix it.
And why not make money off the those already doing drugs? Taxes.
The United States of America wastes money and lives everyday fighting our “drug war,” but legalized drugs would actually turn those drugs into a profit.
Land of the free? Then how can you tell me what substances I can or cannot posses?
Legalize all drugs.
