That’s why it only works on paper.  If human nature involves the exploitation of our fellow person. If it involves the destruction of the environment. The oppression of the masses by the select few. If our very nature commands our own destruction, then something is very wrong. People do suck, but I don’t think exploitation, destruction and oppression are core parts of human nature.  Also, socialism has worked in the past (see: the paris commune and other communes) and does work now (see: the Mondragon Cooperative). If you think socialism is opposed to human nature, you don’t understand reality.
